Zach Lewis is a 2013 graduate of St. Laurence. Zach is currently playing for a minor league affiliate of the Chicago White Sox!

Zach grew up in Palos Heights, Illinois and had a successful career at St. Laurence. Zach sits near the top of multiple single season pitching categories including strike-outs, complete games and saves. He also sits third all-time in saves and complete games and fourth in saves at StL. Zach was one of the hardest working and most competitive players to ever put on the St. Laurence Baseball uniform.

Zach was originally selected in the 33rd round of the 2014 MLB Draft but he did not sign, choosing to return to Wabash Valley College for another season before heading to Wichita State University. He threw 156 innings over 38 games for Wichita State and was extremely successful but did not get selected in the draft following his senior campaign. Zach did not give up and continued to work hard and was eventually signed by the Chicago White Sox as an undrafted free agent. Zach made a major impact on people in the White Sox organization as he was added to the Kannapolis Intimidators roster for the 2018 season after he went 6-1 with a 2.72 ERA with the AFL White Sox and was named to the All-Star team.

Zach spent most of his 2018 season in Kannapolis and could be starting in high A ball next year with the hopes of moving up as the season progresses. He has been featured in multiple Major League scouting blogs as a "player to watch" on multiple occasions this past season. Zach was described as "A bulldog-type pitcher who will have to grind it out after going the UDFA route. There’s a lot to like about Zach Lewis in the coming years. Zach projects as a piece of a major league bullpen in the future"

We are extremely proud of Zach Lewis and we cannot to see where he is able to go in the future! Zach comes back to visit and works with our players every once in a while and it is an honor to have him. We wish Zach the best of luck!

Zach Lewis on his experience at St. Laurence:

“My experience at St. Laurence is hard to put into words. It is a time in my life that I will never forget and will always cherish. I thoroughly enjoyed going to practice every day because I knew I was going to get better. The high intensity practices that we were put through not only gave us the opportunity to get better, they made you better, and I loved being a part of them. Every game felt like a championship game because of the high level of competition that we faced. The atmosphere of St. L baseball is unlike any oth-er. Playing for Coach Pete and Coach Adam was the best decision I ever made. They have such a passion for the game and care so much about getting each and every player they coach better. As long as you put in the work, you will get better. Playing for St. Laurence allowed me to develop a new passion for the game of baseball. I have never experienced anything like it before. It is truly something special and memorable in my life. If I could play at St. Laurence for another 10 years I would.”
